Sláine The Horned God Hardcover 2011 US Edition

Story Pat Mills and painting art by Simon Bisley.

This is really not a "hard to find book" nor a limited signed edition or even an expensive one (at the moment this article is being written anyway), but it is not too often that a British 2000 AD related book knows such a nice edition in the USA.

Published in August 2011 by Rebellion (but dated May 2011), this 10.2 x 7.6 inches book (26 x 19 cm) comes with a faux leather hardcover and a fully illustrated flap jacket (ISBN 978-1-907519-74-1, 208 pages, cover price 25$)

The story is divided in its original three part, and the printing quality as well as the paper thickness are very good. This edition displays an introduction by Pat Mills, from the 2008 UK Rebellion reprint.

At the end of the story, there is an extensive commentary section written by Pat Mills (9 pages) and a bonus gallery (6 pages) with original covers, and exclusive to this reprint B&W sketches by Simon Bisley (2 pages).

  2. Are any of the editions printed better? I have the original 3 from 2000AD. I wonder if some have glossy paper or matte and if some were printed blurry or without as much detail or maybe too dark?

    1. Hello Luiz. Yes it will be interesting to compare editions (and I may have an original 2000Ad issue as well). But it will not be possible until this week end in order to have a proper light.

  3. Thanks. I would like to see which edition does the best job with the printing and what kind of printing. I have the original 1989 Fleetway edition that came in 3 Books. I don't think that one has great printing. I think it's a little too matte. The binding is also not very good and tend to pull apart from the pages. I recently ordered the "Hamlyn" paperback to see if that one holds better as far as binding and printing. The Judge Dredd vs. Batman was printed beautifully so I'm hoping they did a great job on this story.

    1. I will be able to do a comparison with the 1989 Fleetway edition that came in 3 books (I may have a dozen versions of the story)
